Biology Professor William Nutting died on February 2nd. A member of the faculty since 1972, his students remember him as an enthusiastic teacher willing to give his time to help them succeed. 

“From my first impression of him, I knew he expected us to be motivated,” said Jaclyn Esparza, a second-year nursing student who took microbiology in 2015. “His class was hard but he gave us everything we needed to know. We followed his lectures and highlighted the note packet he gave us. He knew who was putting in the time and he was always willing to explain and answer questions.” read more

(Archive September 1, 2011) Professor Gelbwasser Remembered

On August 11, 2011, Retiree, Professor Herman Gelbwasser passed away unexpectedly. Professor Gelbwasser was born on March 3, 1940 in Manhattan NY and had earned his Master’s in Chemical Engineering before he began his 45 year long career right here at Mount Wachusett Community College.

Professor Gelbwasser retired from the Mount in 2010 as a Professor in mathematics and chemistry. He lived in Rutland with his wife and was an avid Red Sox and Celtics fan. Many of his students found his class’s fun, hands on and easy to understand because of his patience with making sure each and every student could understand and learn from everything that was going on in his class. Some students are even part of a group on Facebook called “Herman Gelbwasser’s Chem Kid’s.” read more

Remembering Professor Wyman

A Passionate, Devoted, and Talented Professor Who Will Be Missed by All Of MWCC

Mount Wachusett Alumnus and English Professor, David Wyman, unexpectedly passed away on August 12. His presence on campus is one many will miss, and Wyman will be remembered by those at MWCC as someone passionately devoted to his beliefs, students, and poetry.

            Regarding the news, President Vander Hooven said, “I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of David Wyman. David was an extraordinary educator, completely dedicated to his students. The Mount has lost a passionate teacher and friend. My thoughts are with his family, friends, and the many colleagues who will miss his love and friendship.” read more
