Networking and leadership opportunities are just a couple of benefits of becoming a member of the International Business Honors Society, Alpha Beta Gamma.

The chapter raises funds that are donated to different charities throughout the year including Relay for Life, the MWCC food bank, the Red Cross and the Gardner CAC food bank. Funds are raised by holding bake sales, raffles and other fundraising efforts.

Professor Linda Bolduc, the club adviser, said students benefit immensely by becoming members. The club is a part of the Greater Gardner Chamber of Commerce, which allows members to network with the business world and it is one of the most active clubs on the campus.  read more

(Archive October 2018) Clubs & Campus: Delta Alpha Phi

Amy LaBarge and Amanda Robichaud promoted Delta Alpha Pi, an international honor society, at Fall Fest.

Robichaud, the club president, was adamant about the club’s mission to promote and recognize the high achievements of students with disabilities. Members of the chapter are there to promote disability awareness and pride, and to also help foster friendships through various activities on campus. 

Club Advisor, Amy LaBarge, was optimistic about the club’s future citing the growing number of chapters all throughout the country. As of now, the honor society stands at 140 chapters with one-eighth of them located in Massachusetts. read more

Amy LaBarge, M. Ed. is the Coordinator of Disability Services at MWCC and she is the advisor to a new club on campus. The Delta Alpha Pi Honor Society is international and an academic honor society founded to recognize high-achieving students with both physical and mental disabilities who are attending colleges and universities as undergraduate or graduate students. LaBarge said, “only seven other colleges provide this club on their campuses in Massachusetts”. read more

(Archive December 2011) Phi Theta Kappa is Growing in Numbers and Importance

Honor society Phi Theta Kappa is growing at MWCC. With new faculty advisors and student leadership, PTK is rebuilding their student base in an effort to become more active at MWCC. Over 700 invites were sent out this semester to join the society this semester.

According to society president Jennifer Forgues, PTK has lowered their requirements to be eligible to join. Currently a student who wishes to join must have 12 credits and an overall GPA of 3.2. There is also a onetime $50 membership fee for joining. The society is open to all majors and the club meets on Mondays at 12:30 PM in room 202. read more
