Congratulations graduates! May 16th is looming near and while the “Pomp and Circumstance” march silhouettes your success, none of this would be possible without the smooth orchestration of the college staff. Yet, even flawless plans go awry.

From academic advisors, alumni and Dean Jason Zelesky, the choreographing A to Z’s involve everyone in between. According to Assistant Dean of Students Greg Clement, it starts with the procession of paperwork in the records office. From there grades are finalized by faculty, and about 100 volunteers collect tickets, control crowds, guide guests, help groom graduates and arrange the reception.   read more

Graduating from high school was not as exciting or scary as graduating from MWCC is turning out to be. 

Some people will be looking for a new job in their chosen field, some will be transferring, and some might decide to get another degree. Whatever it is, we will all begin a new chapter in our lives. Change can be terrifying because it is new, unfamiliar, and unknown. 

It would be great, if I could continue hiding in the newsroom, covering the chalkboard with story ideas and editing tips, filling the white board with inspirational quotes, and the computer with sticky notes of things to do. I am going to miss our weekly meetings and rushing to get articles done for the deadline.  read more

Mount Wachusett Community College President Daniel M. Asquino, Alumnus of the Year, Gardner Mayor Mark Hawke, and Service Above Self Award recipient, Raymond J. Martino, president and CEO of Simonds International and chair of the MWCC Foundation, will be among the speakers during the college’s 51st commencement on May 18.

“We are extremely proud to honor Gardner Mayor Mark Hawke as our 2016 Alumnus of the Year and community leader Raymond Martino as our Service Above Self Award recipient,” said President Daniel M. Asquino. “Through their work professionally and in a volunteer capacity, both are making a tremendous difference in the lives of North Central Massachusetts residents, and in our students. read more

Ben Coes, author of the acclaimed suspense novel, Power Down, will be the featured speaker at Mount Wachusett Community College’s 46th Commencement ceremony on May 19.

“We are delighted and honored to have Ben Coes as our commencement speaker this year,” said MWCC President Daniel M. Asquino. “Ben represents a new generation of thriller authors in the company of Vince Flynn, Brad Thor and others. He accomplished this by setting out to fulfill a long-held dream, which makes him an extraordinary role model for our graduates, who are moving forward with their own dreams.” read more
