(Archive May 1, 2011) Pub Review: Tino’s

By Jenny Cooper | Observer Reporter

Tino’s is a homey small bar with a fun atmosphere. The people there are extremely friendly and make you feel right at home. Whether you are stepping in on a Wednesday night for a drink after work or meeting a bunch of friends for a hopping Friday night out, you will fit right in at Tino’s.

Kim and Scott Salvi have opened this bar at 102 Front St. in Whinchendon and it seems to be just what the town needed! They are very warm, welcoming, and are quick to make you feel like you are family when you enter their establishment.

A large flat screen illuminates the bar with sporting events for patrons and a jukebox resides on the adjacent wall for the partying crowd to enjoy. At the far end of the bar is a small stage for their open mic nights (Every other Friday) and karaoke (Thursdays and Saturdays – complete with wireless microphones and lighting!) Whether you enjoy live music or are feeling courageous enough to test the waters yourself and belt out a tune, Tinos is a perfect place as it is small yet warm and inviting.

Tino’s tends to keep their customers entertained with Scott’s musical knowledge and Kim’s sarcastic sense of humor. There is always the option of Trivia & Buzztime Poker, a dartboard, and if a game is on you can be sure it will be shown on the flat screens for your viewing pleasure (5 flatscreens!!!).

The drinks are competitively priced with draft beer starting around $4 and martinis around $7. Kim is not only an owner, but she is the main bartender and can make up just about anything to suit your needs, be it a soft drink to a hard liquor cocktail. Martinis? Kim is the queen of making a martini to fill any taste bud’s dream.

The menu is American Pub food, but is slowly integrating some Italian dishes. So far there is mostly food like Angus burgers and wings (bone in or boneless) and they make them either BBQ, buffalo or plain! Tino’s is also quickly becoming known for their hand cut, homemade French fries as well as their homemade mac-n-cheese bites!

All in all Tino’s is a great town meeting spot to meet old friends and make new friends or just stopping by to unwind after a long day.
