(Archive March 2017) MWCC Student is a Part-Time Princess

By Nicholas Velillari | Observer Contributor

Li Vaillette, 18, is a student here at the Mount who has a very interesting side job: she is a professional Disney Princess at birthday parties for children on the weekends.

She does all sorts of characters from Belle from Beauty and The Beast, to Ariel from The Little Mermaid and even Princess Leia from Star Wars. Vaillette originally got into this opportunity during high school. “I had a friend who was doing a charity event during school,” Vaillette states, “She asked me if I wanted to dress up as a princess for it. I said yes, and that’s how it all started.”

Aside from her unique side job, Vaillette is from Leominster and is currently majoring in theater. When asked why she chose that major, she said, “I’ve been doing theater since I was four years old.” It makes sense that she would continue her passion.

However what Vaillette said she loves about doing theater is, “I like it it because I enjoy being a different person.” Some of Vaillette’s current classes are Fundamentals of Acting and Set Design. However, she’s “not looking forward to dance” and singing classes in the next semester.

Some of the things she’s learning right now in class are how to do a monologue for acting. She said she is “looking forward to it.” When asked if she had any upcoming parties scheduled, she stated, “I have a job this weekend as Ariel.”

However, Vaillette’s main goal right now is to proceed on with her major. She still wants to continue on with her side job and hope it leads into something more, but for now she’s happy with the way her first semester is going.
