According to a poll recently analyzed by the SGA, students at MWCC are strongly in favor of keeping community time how it is.
Today, Seth Royer, a member of the Student Government Association reported that among the surveys that were returned, 90% of the students would like to keep community time the same.
According to Royer, 400 surveys were passed out to classes around the school and of those surveys 344 were returned. Having such a high return rate for the polls was impressive in the opinion of Greg Clement, one of the SGA advisers.
Recently, there has been talk about a change in community time with the possibility of getting rid of the free hour all together and replacing it with more class time. With such a high return rate and an almost unanimous response, members of the SGA have a hard time seeing anything like that going into affect in the near future.
Community time is the one-hour block from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm where no classes are held. During this time students are free to hang out and grab lunch in the cafeteria, study in the library, attend club and organization meetings, or run off campus for a quick errand before their next class starts at 1:45. For some students with full schedules, this is the only time during the day that they get the opportunity to relax.
