Campus 4 Christ, a student organization at Mount Wachusett Community College, is participating in community service projects that spread Christmas spirit across the world this semester.
According to group president Isaac Manson, these students have decided to partake in Operation Christmas Child. This a yearly project held by Samaritan’s Purse in which shoeboxes are filled with essential and nonessential items for children between the ages of two and fourteen. The boxes are stuffed, wrapped, and then sent to different locations around the world for children in need.
Campus 4 Christ has decided to have each of their members pick an age and a gender. Each student will collect or purchase items throughout the week, bring the items into the next meeting, wrap the boxes, and then send them on their way through collaboration with a local church.
Because of a tight deadline, the group is not able to involve the rest of the student body with this particular project. However, Manson said that they would like to expand their campus involvement in future projects.
For their next community service project, Campus 4 Christ is considering teaming up with the Veteran’s program on campus to collect donations that will go to in-need families and children of veterans in the Gardner area.
