(Archive November 2007) Transformers Movie Review

By Tyler LaBell | Observer Contributor

The movie Transformers starring Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox, directed by Steven Spielberg, is based off a cartoon from the mid-1980s. All of the characters in the movie were based on characters from the cartoon.

Just like the cartoon, there were the Autobots and the Decepticons, but there were small differences in the movie. In the cartoon, one of the Autobots was named Bumblebee. Bumblebee transformed from a Volkswagen Beetle in the cartoon, while in the movie it was a Chevrolet Camaro.

The Decepticons are trying to recover the all spark so they can gain control of the Universe, while the Autobots went to Earth to destroy it in order to keep it out of the hands of the Decepticons. The Autobots, while trying to save mankind, run into trouble with the government.

A secret agency named Sector 7, started by President Hoover, believes all of the transformers are bad. This action-based movie with great graphics will keep you laughing throughout and will have you on the edge of your seat rooting for the Autobots like it was a major sporting event! The movie had plenty of intense war scenes, with great stunts, and amazing visual effects. The sound effects were also unbelievable.

If you’re into action or comedy movies, this had a mixture of both with a good plot and great directing by Spielberg.
