Coming out of high school, Emily Pacheco, 20, explained that she did not really know what she wanted to do like many prospective college applicants. She applied to a handful of different schools, but none of them had Art majors, so she decided to come to MWCC.

Pacheco has attended MWCC for 2 years and pursued an Art major. The art classes covered a wide range of topics, all of the courses that one would need for an Art school. She loved the classes that she took and enjoyed her time at MWCC.

Pacheco explained how there were very few Art teachers at MWCC, which was actually her favorite experience about the school. “Being an Art major,” she said, “there are only about 3 teachers who actually teach art. They really know you and your work – it really helps in critiquing your work because they know you so well.” Upon graduating from MWCC, Pacheco said that she has plans to transfer to a new college for the Fall 2011 . She wants to end up in Boston, at a school like Emerson, Boston University, or Northeastern University, all of which she has applied to. Pacheco’s advice to incoming freshman at MWCC would be to work hard and not lose focus.
